Painted Kitchen Cabinets

Although it may seem to bore you, but the paint on a kitchen cabinet plays an important role in the look of it. The choice of paint decides how the kitchen would appeal to on lookers. There is a huge variety when it comes to painted kitchen cabinets, they can be from a natural oak limed finish to an antique paint finish depending on what actually is required.

Recently, I decided to give my kitchen cabinet a new paint job. Since I was kind of low on budget, I thought that I should paint the cabinet. I searched on the internet for some video tutorials on how to paint a cabinet; I found some good ones and downloaded them. in those days my mother was staying at my place, so she decided to help me too. How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets The next day we started working on our little project. Since the finish was a dyed oak burgundy, I had a little difficulty in sanding the cabinets because the wood had absorbed the finish over time. After sanding the cabinets, I applied a suitable primer.

Primer forms a better bond with the surface of the wood, better than even the paint would alone. Just be sure about what type of primer is going to be used, if you are using a latex paint as your top cover, a shellac based primer is recommended. After priming the surface, the cabinet doors looked awful, but it was part of procedure, I actually had built a great foundation for the top cover. Then using a pneumatic sprayer, I painted the cabinet doors, knobs and other surfaces giving a smooth and glossy finish. I had to ensure not to spray any paint on the hinges, other hardware and surroundings of the cabinet, to prevent any further changes or to spend beyond budget.

Additional coats can be added, depending on what is required. Although you may find out that you can get better results with three coats, but in some cases two coats of paint are sufficient. This is often true with woods that carry a heavier grain, like the one I have, oak wood.

There are many other kinds of painted kitchen cabinets, in which you can not only paint them but also change their look or accessories, like the aluminum and glass cabinets. But in the end, a natural woody look in the house is always welcome.
