Nagesh Kukunoor’s Keerthy Suresh starrer Good Luck Sakhi to get theatrical release: Makers

Recently there was buzz that director Nagesh Kukunoor’s Keerthy Suresh, Aadi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu starrer Good Luck Sakhi will have a digital release.

However, the makers clarify that the film will not hit OTT first and will have a theatrical release. Reacting to the rumours, producer Sudheer Chandra released a note that reads, “There are rumours that we are going for a direct OTT release all over media. Kindly request media to refrain from saying so. None of it is true. We will come with an update in any. Hoping everyone stays home and stays safe. (sic)” While the film was supposed to hit screens on June 3, release was pushed due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Good Luck Sakhi is Nagesh Kukunoor’s maiden Tollywood and boasts not just of a female-centric story, but also a female dominated crew led by co-producer Shravya Varma. The film is slated for release not just in Telugu but also Tamil and Malayalam. Dil Raju is presenting the film produced by Sudheer Chandra Paditi under the Worth A Shot Motion Arts banner.

In the sports rom-com, National Award winner Keerthy Suresh will play a shooter from rural Telangana who’s often referred to as ‘bad luck Sakhi’. Aadi plays a theatre artist whom she falls for while Jagapathi Babu plays her shooting coach and mentor once she reaches the city. Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music for the film that has cinematography by Chirantan Das. The teaser and other promotional material of the film received good response.
